Keanu Reeves keert terug voor John Wick 5

Goed nieuws voor fans van de epische Gun-Fu killer John Wick, want de huurling krijg een vijfde film. Leuk om te weten is dat Keanu Reeves opnieuw in de huid van de iconische assassin kruipt. En dat regisseur Chad Stahelski achter de camera staat.
Het nieuws werd bekendgemaakt door filmhuis Lionsgate tijdens de CinemaCon. Voor het project worden Reeves en Stahelski opnieuw bijgestaan door Basil Iwanyk en Erica Lee. Details van het verhaal, alsook de cast zijn nog niet bekend.
Vooraleer de film live gaat, is Keanu Reeves natuurlijk ook te zien in Ballerina, een John Wick spin-off met Ana De Armas in de hoofdrol. Zij speelt Eve Macarro, een ballerina die wordt opgeleid als huurmoordenaar en ook behoorlijk wat kont weet te schoppen. Mogelijk werken Macarro en Wick dus samen in het vijfde hoofdstuk.
Stahelski wil de John Wick franchise nog verder uitbreiden met een prequel animatiefilm en een standalone avontuur met Caine in de hoofdrol, de blinde vechtersbaas uit John Wick: Chapter 4. De spin-off wordt trouwens geregisseerd door martial arts icoon Donnie Yen.
De John Wick franchise is dus nog lang niet uitgedoofd. Ballerina draait vanaf 6 juni in de zalen.
